Privacy Policy

Past Papers Hub has no accounts and asks you for no personal information. This page sets out exactly what that means, including the two third-party scripts that do run.

What we collect

Nothing you have to give us. There is no sign-up, no login, no newsletter, and no form that asks who you are.

The hosting provider records standard server and request information for every visit, as web servers do. That may include:

This is aggregate and not tied to an identity. It is used to understand which pages are used and to find faults.

What is stored in your browser

The site saves a few preferences on your own device using browser storage, so it behaves the way you left it. These never leave your browser, are not sent to us, and are not shared with anyone:

Clearing your browser data removes all of it. Because it is stored per-device, saved papers do not follow you to another phone or computer.

One more thing is saved on your device and does not belong in the list above: your answer to the advertising consent message, described in the next section. Unlike the preferences here, that answer is passed on to Google — telling the advertising what it may and may not do is the whole point of it.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Nothing here sets a cookie to identify you or follow you from one visit to the next. Two third-party scripts do load on every page — Vercel Web Analytics and Google AdSense — and the advertising brings a consent message with it. All three are described below.

It does run Vercel Web Analytics, provided by Vercel, who also host the site. It counts page views and visitors so we can see which papers people actually use, and reports them grouped by page, country, device type and referring site. There is no account, no login and nothing that identifies you personally; what we see is totals, not people.

Because the data is processed by Vercel rather than by us, their privacy policy governs their side of it — read it at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy. If you would rather not be counted at all, a content blocker will stop the script, and the site works exactly the same without it.

The advertising is Google AdSense, and it is what pays for the site. Its script loads on every page. Google, and the advertisers it works with, may set cookies or read identifiers already in your browser in order to choose which ads you are shown and to measure whether they were seen. That processing is Google’s and not ours: we are shown totals about ads, never anything that identifies you, and no amount of advertising will ever put a paper behind a sign-up.

Because that advertising can use cookies, visitors in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland are asked first, through a consent message Google provides. Consent, do not consent, and the detailed options all sit on the same message — refusing takes one click, exactly like accepting. Refusing does not take the advertising away; it means the ads are not personalised to you. Your answer is saved on your device so the message is not shown on every page, and clearing your browser data clears it, after which you are asked again.

What Google collects, and the controls for switching personalised advertising off, are set out in its own policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. As with the analytics, a content blocker will stop the script, and the site works exactly the same without it.

External links

Every question paper and mark scheme link takes you to a site we do not run. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control and are not responsible for. If you are concerned about how a particular host handles data, read its policy before downloading from it.

Children and young people

This site is aimed at students aged roughly 14 to 19, so some visitors are minors. It is built accordingly: there is no registration, nothing that asks for personal details, and we do not profile or track anyone. The exception is the Google advertising described above, which is Google’s own processing under its own policies and controls; a content blocker stops it, and nothing on the site is withheld if you use one.

Your rights

We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or delete. Preferences stored on your device are under your control and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings. Anything Google holds through the advertising is separate from us and is governed by its policy, linked above.

If you believe otherwise, or want to ask about any of this, email hello@pastpapershub.com.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated if the way the site works changes — particularly if the advertising or the analytics change. The date below shows when it was last revised.
