The following topics are covered across the Mathematics IGCSE syllabus:
Two papers, both taken in the same exam series at the end of the course, at one tier: Papers 1F and 2F at Foundation, or 1H and 2H at Higher. Each paper is 2 hours and 100 marks, and a calculator may be used.
Foundation tier targets grades 5 to 1. Higher tier assumes the Foundation content and targets grades 9 to 4, with grade 3 allowed. Each tier has its own formulae sheet. On a Higher paper, about 40% of the marks are spread evenly over grades 4 and 5, and about 60% over grades 6, 7, 8 and 9.
By content, number and algebra carry 57-63% of the marks, shape, space and measures 22-28%, and handling data 12-18%. The specification also sets how much is problem solving and how much mathematical reasoning: 25% and 15% at Foundation, 30% and 20% at Higher.
